Frequently Asked Questions

What fuel does the RS4 use?

The RS4 is a wood-fired outdoor cooking system designed to burn small split wood, kindling, and similar natural solid fuel.

Is the RS4 portable?

Yes, but it is not an ultralight backpacking stove. The RS4 is a heavy steel cooking system built for stability, durability, and real outdoor use.

What comes with the Base Unit?

The Base Unit includes the main RS4 rocket stove body and primary cooking/burner setup. Accessories are available separately or as part of a package.

What comes with the Accessory Pack?

The Accessory Pack adds the grill, griddle, stainless lid, and related cooking accessories for expanded wood-fired cooking.

Can I cook directly on it?

Yes. The RS4 is designed for outdoor cooking using the burner, grill, griddle, and lid depending on the setup.

Can it be used on uneven ground?

The folding outriggers help the RS4 stay planted on gravel, dirt, grass, and uneven outdoor surfaces. The user is still responsible for safe setup and operation.

Can I use it during a fire ban?

Always follow local fire bans, campground rules, municipal bylaws, and provincial regulations. Do not use the RS4 where solid-fuel fires are prohibited.

Is it made in Canada?

Yes. SMOKEIRON products are built in small batches in Alberta, Canada.

How heavy is it?

The RS4 is made from heavy steel and ships as a substantial outdoor cooking product. Check the product details for current package weights and shipping information.

How does shipping work?

Shipping is calculated at checkout where available. Because of the weight and size of the RS4 system, orders may ship in more than one package.

Can I return it?

Unused products may be returned according to the return policy. Burned, cooked-on, customized, or damaged products are not returnable unless there is a confirmed defect or shipping issue.

Does it come seasoned?

Cooking surfaces should be cleaned and seasoned before use according to the operating manual.

Is the RS4 safe to use on grass?

The RS4 must always be used with care on a stable, non-combustible or fire-safe surface where possible. Keep the area clear of dry grass, leaves, brush, and other combustible material.

Is assembly required?

The RS4 is designed for straightforward setup. Accessories should be installed only as described in the operating manual, and the stove must be set up securely before use.
